With Christmas on the horizon, most of December in our rear view (seriously, how?!) and only a short few days left in the current year, it is time to focus our energies on giving 2016 a proper send off (adios, see you never!). Given that I spent over thirty minutes deciding what to wear just to say goodbye to grandma yesterday, one could nearly buckle under the pressure when it comes to sending off an entire year. Needless to say, I have put a lot of thought into my sartorial choices for December 31st.
For most, New Year’s Eve is characterized by sequined garments and lots of glitz. But I have never been one for tradition. My vote this time around? Comfortable and chic. Lot’s of room for all of that post-holiday weight I plan to put on, but still flirty and chic.
Last year, I went for white (after all, nothing says clean slate quite like an empty canvas). But given the disaster that was 2016, this feels more like a funeral than a wedding, so black it is this time around.
With a color selected and sequins tossed to the side for some other proverbial bridesmaid, I set out on a search for the perfect blend of comfort, femininity, and grace. All without trying too hard or looking like a human disco ball (although, if you must, might we suggest this).
Whoever would have thought that NOT wearing sequins would be this year’s prescription for standing out.
