TKC Profile: Amanda Sheppard

We first met Amanda Sheppard by a pool in Miami. She was sitting with friends, as were we, laughing and enjoying her holiday. We don’t usually harass fellow guests trying to decompress, but something about her Westward Leaning sunglasses sitting atop a perfectly messy ponytail said “familiar,” so we did. The rest is a rather brief but love-filled history. When it came time to put together a short list of London ladies for our January profiles, we jumped at the chance to pay our friend a visit.

At first blush, Sheppard comes off as what we might call elegant – perhaps it is her British accent and classically chic ensemble – and she is, but the girl also knows how to have fun. Which is a necessity, considering her line of work. As the co-director at Rose Productions, a London based events company she started with India Langton six years ago, Sheppard works with clients such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Issa, Amanda Wakelely, Tory Burch, Missoni, and Sisley Skincare, among others, to throw some of the most press-worthy events in London. Known for her taste and for putting on a good party (she even has private clients who seek her out to do their birthdays and weddings), Sheppard’s events have been attended by everyone from Kate Moss to Mario Testino. Throwing sneak-in worthy parties for the fashion set? It’s only natural we want to see what’s hiding inside her closet.

A woman whose career revolves around making high-fashion practical and fun, Sheppard has mastered shopping for sensible pieces with timeless flair.

SIGNATURE STYLE:  “Very classic, simple colours – greys, white, black, blue and cream, with a touch of pink and red. I love an oversized jumper, skinny jeans and a heel. I need to be practical for work, which involves running around all over the place.”

WHEN SHOPPING: “Always buy what you feel comfortable in and know what suits you. Sometimes I try and go for a look I’m not familiar with and it usually sits in my wardrobe and never gets worn. Disaster!”

AVOID: “Cheap fabrics. Even stores like Zara and Topshop can do really lovely fabrics, so there really is no excuse for a horrible synthetic fabric.”

You can tell a lot about a woman by her uniform. And what we can tell is that Sheppard’s style is perfectly on-point.

COAT: “I am always cold, especially in London, so I wrap up warm in my Woolrich jacket and Jimmy Choo biker boots. Very practical, warm and stylish.”

HEELS: “I love to dress casually with a super high heel. My favorite shoes at the moment are my Gucci cage shoes. They hold your feet and ankle in a tight position – so easy to run around in.”

TOP: “A big oversized jumper. My loves of the moment are by Bottega Veneta and Club Monaco. They can we worn with skinny jeans or a skirt. Even though they’re oversized, these can be very flattering.”

PANTS: “Always a skinny jean. I love Rag and Bone, as they do a great variety of patterns and fabrics.”

ACCESSORY: “Always Sunglasses. Gucci and Westward Leaning.”

AMANDA’S MUST HAVES
