A Holiday Detox for Your Skin

A Holiday Detox for Your Skin

It doesn’t take a calendar to prove that the holidays are over.  Just one look at the state of our skin is sure to do the trick.  All of the late nights, Russian mornings and midday kiki’s are written all over our face in flaky dry letters.  To put it simply: Our skin is tired, stressed and dehydrated, which isn’t too surprising considering the epic 6 weeks we just had.  And as much as we would love to take a week-long trip to the spa and spend the rest of the month snuggled under the covers with cucumbers over our eyes, that’s not a practical solution to our growing epidermis problem.  No, we need hydration and we need it now.

So before we lose anymore sleep or form deeper lines, it’s time to take a stroll through our growing collection of face masks. These at-home treatments are designed to pamper skin with highly concentrated active ingredients and treat skincare concerns all while you are making your morning cup of Jo.  They are what we like to call “speed facials.” Given the state of affairs around here, they can’t work fast enough.

(slough away dead cells and unclog pores)

Lift Lab Skin Regeneration Detox Mask – This anti-aging cleanser removes makeup and impurities and doubles as a detoxifying mask. Leave it on a little longer before rinsing (three minutes to be exact) for a revitalizing mask that exfoliates, clarifies and moisturizes skin leaving it smooth and glowing.

Origins Charcoal Mask – This isn’t the first time we have raved about this mask (see here), and chances are it won’t be the last. When it comes to drawing out those deep dwelling pore cloggers and dissolving impurities, nothing does the job quite like charcoal. A few rounds with this drying mask and holiday pores will be a thing of the past.

(calm and boost moisture)

Mario Badescu Ginkgo Mask – Ginkgo Biloba is a natural skin-soothing anti-redness ingredient that acts to ease dryness and soothe sensitivity.  This mask is a non-hardening gel mask that stays on for between 15 and 20 minutes, making it the perfect pampering choice for your after dinner TV shows.

SK-II Signs Eye Mask – More like cotton discs that you place under your eyes than a traditional mask, the SKII eye mask is specifically designed to deeply hydrate and revive the delicate eye area with the help of Pitera and a combination of vitamin B3, E, and pro-vitamin B5. If we had to only choose one…

(smooth fine lines, rejuvenate complexion and amp up your glow)

Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask – A highly elastic mask that forms to your face, after a mere ten minutes it saturates skin with much needed brightening ingredients for a radiant, even complexion.

Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Treatment Mask – Another ten minute tissue mask, Garnier’s version contains Vitamin C that treats dark spots, dullness and uneven skin.  Each facial mask contains 1/2 bottle of hydrating serum and just one use leaves skin intensely hydrated for 24 hours. When used three times a week, you should notice that your skin looks brighter, refreshed and revitalized. After the month we had, we all know we need it.

All of the late nights, Russian mornings and midday kiki’s are written all over our face in flaky dry letters.
