I’m that not that funny.
I take that back, some people write to me to tell me they think I am funny, but I think that’s less about me actually being universally funny and more having to do with the one person who gets my puns and arbitrary references stumbling across this site. More often than anything, I’m making jokes that no one but me gets and laughing to myself all the way to dinner. And sometimes after…
And I’m cool with that.
Case in point: I ordered one of Poolside Bags’ custom Shorty Totes for a trip to Palm Springs (and, you know, summer in general) and labored for hours over what I wanted it to say. And when I say hours, I mean hours.
I am talking my husband was so annoyed with my waffling he offered to make dinner. (Fine, it’s possible he was just being sweet. But I am fairly certain 90% of is motivation was escaping my decision-making process.)
Anyway, back to my bag. It had to be summer appropriate, Instagram worthy but also punny. There are so many quirky good ones already out there (I mean, Becky with the Good Hair?! Genius.), needless to say, I felt some serious pressure.
I went back and forth over song lyrics, quotes and even inside jokes (LAME) and then, while working on one of our TKC Profiles, I got an idea. A double entendre my high school English teacher would be proud of. A song title, a message of female empowerment and an homage to the summer heat wrapped all into one.
Should I say it?! This girl is on FIRE.
Yep, went there.
Now I’ll let you decide which meaning was most applicable in Palm Springs last weekend as we melted away in the 100 degree heat by the pool all day.
