As self-proclaimed suckers for the easy way out, we’ve long wondered whether powder foundation was a life hack we’ve been missing out on. Sure, it sounds like the best of all worlds (light, weightless coverage without the mess), but most things that sound too good to be true usually are. So we’ve stayed away, loyally covering our face in creamy (and moisturizing!) liquid since good ‘ol mom bought us that first bottle of Clinique.
We recently broke down and skeptically gave bareMinerals new barePro Powder Foundation a whirl because it took their loose mineral foundation and pressed it into a compact. The infamous bareMinerals coverage without the mess? This we had to try.
What it claims to do: “barePro is 12-hour long-wearing, breathable powder foundation that gives your skin a photo-ready matte finish without a caked-on feel. Formulated with 90% vitamins and minerals, its smooth, silky texture glides on effortlessly for superior customizable coverage without clogging pores or causing breakouts. It’s clinically shown to improve skin clarity, reduce pore size appearance and control shine, and its high-impact, skin-matching mineral pigments are designed for all ethnicities and skin tones.”
What it did: Because we needed full coverage, we used the Core Coverage Brush (sold separately) to apply. Buffing the foundation onto skin was simple and the opposite of messy (so far, so good). Overall, it gives the skin a soft, velvet finish and feels pretty weightless – ideal for summer and warmer months. However, if you’re trying to hide some serious blemishes or have skin that is on the drier side, this might not be enough coverage or moisture for you.
