When it comes to taking care of your face, as far as I’m concerned, there isn’t anything better than a good eye cream. Having come from a family with genetic dark circles (a.k.a., I was born looking as though I haven’t slept in over a century), I have tried everything. Lucky for me, there is a god! If there is one thing my facial regime can’t do without, it’s under eye plumping and correcting. I’m happy to report that there are four products I’m jammin’ on when it comes to preventing my insomniac, 26-year-old self (or genetics) from taking over my life (or my eyes, as it were).
1. First up? DHC Q10 Eye Cream. Thank you mom for introducing me to this gem! When it comes to age prevention, this is your cream. This intensive cream not only contains revitalizing coenzyme Q10, but also contains things like vitamin E, olive oil, kudzu, and alpha-arbutin to prevent fine lines from appearing around those baby blues.
2. SKINCEUTICALS A.G.E. Eye Complex has been helping me save face for as far back as I can remember (pun definitely intended). Its complex of flavonoids and synergistic peptides reduces the appearance of dark circles and diminishes puffiness and under-eye bags – benefits that are almost instantaneous. In fact, on more than one occasion I have used this miracle cream with only 30 minutes between waking up and needing to be fresh faced and wild eyed.
3. When it comes to brightening the eye area, hydration goes a long way. And when it comes to hydration, FRESH Lotus Eye Gel is the product for the job. Not to mention, it also smells hella good.
4. Last but not least, CLARINS Defining Eye Lift is specifically engineered to improve blood circulation & skin hydration. Increased blood circulation equals decreased blood buildup under your eyes, which equals no more dark circles. The lifting effects are almost immediate.
P.S. How you apply your eye cream is just as important as which cream you use. The skin under your eye is thin, so it is extra important that you always use your ring finger (i.e., your least powerful phalange) to apply product there. So, after cleansing and applying toner, use the tip of your ring finger to lightly pat the cream under and around your eyes both in the morning and at night.
