Yesterday I went shopping for the first time in a significant amount of time. I figured September was almost over and, although Mother Nature doesn’t seem too committed to this Fall thing, it might be time for my closet to give it a go.
My mission? Dresses of any shape or size that could be served on their own or a la mode (a.k.a. on top of a pair of pants or layered over some other garment). Maybe a few light sweaters and structured tops. Items not on the list due to over-purchasing in season’s past? Pants, button-downs and blazers of any kind.
With my shopping boundaries clearly defined, I set out to the mall. I went in and out of stores. I perused aisles, spoke with sales associates about my shopping dilemma, rejected their recommendations and tried on skirts when it became apparent my dress laid plans had clearly been foiled.
In the end, after hours of trying to find the perfect thing, I left with a pair of grey knit culottes.
No, not the grey culottes I am wearing in the above photos (which just so happen to be on sale for a mere $25). No, I bought an entirely different pair because, obviously, when planning for Fall, multiple pairs of grey culottes are high on the list.
My mission? Dresses of any shape or size.
