Taking off makeup is one thing. Taking off a night’s worth of reapplied mascara and smoky eyeliner, on the other hand, is quite another. I can’t count how many times I’ve found myself in the bathroom, exhausted and ready for bed, rubbing at my eyes like I’d gotten a jalapeño seed stuck inside as I try to take off an evening’s worth of eye-makeup, and then finally give up and pass out with mascara still sporadically smeared across my face. Brutal.
Which is why, when I find an eye-makeup remover that actually removes eye-makeup without forcibly removing my eyelashes in the process, I take note. Here are four products that I couldn’t live without.
- Charlotte Tilbury ‘Take It All Off’ Genius Eye-Makeup Remover – What’s in a name? In this case, everything. This oil-rich cleanser removes even the toughest long-wear makeup in a single swipe while replenishing and caring for the delicate eye area. Plus, it’s a pump applicator, so if it happens to fall over (a common occurrence in my bathroom) not all is lost.
- CLÉ DE PEAU BEAUTÉ Eye & Lip Makeup Remover Sheets – These lavishly soft makeup remover towelettes remove makeup and leave skin silky smooth. Each sheet is pre-moistened, making it ideal for makeup removal wherever you are (read: perfect for travel). But don’t consider these your typical face-wipes, they are formulated to gently and conveniently remove all types of makeup, including heavy and waterproof. And they really, really work.
- Eau Thermale Avène Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover – Eau Thermale Avène’s products are perfect for those with sensitive skin. Usually, if you have sensitive skin you have to compromise quality, but never with Eau Thermale Avène. They are the masters of sensitive skincare.
- Mario Badescu Eye-Makeup Remover Gel – I have been a big fan of Mario Badescu for the longest time – effective products at a reasonable price. The biggest selling point for this remover is that it gently removes all eye make up with no greasy residue left behind. So if you are looking for a remover that allows you to reapply make-up immediately (raise your hand if you never get your eye-makeup right on the first try), this is your winner.
