A Polished Home: Inspiration

A Polished Home: Inspiration

If clicking our heels together and closing our eyes would ever conceivably work to complete a project, we would have already used it to decorate the house.

Most of the time when we think about decorating our home, the process is so overwhelming we don’t ever start. Kind of like cleaning out and organizing your closet, only this time around the clothes are replaced with giant overstuffed pieces of wood, most of which need to be recovered or relocated, and whose placement possibilities are endless. We need a glass of lemonade just thinking about it. Thanks for asking.

Sick of looking at the same ripped couch and mismatched nightstands, we finally gave in this weekend and decided to start on project “Make This House A Home” one room at a time.

On the lookout for inspiration and an easy “how-to” guide to making our living room, bedroom and office look like an editor’s dream on a college budget, we went straight to our go-to expert on all subjects: The Internet. Luckily for us, the first thing that popped up in our search for “gray gold bedroom design” was a very white palm beach inspired living room. Google always knows what we are looking for, even if we don’t know how to ask for it. And as it turns out, all we were looking for was a little HOMEPOLISH. Filled with design ideas galore, interviews and insider tips, our new discovery has gotten us inspired to actually put some polish on our home. It also has us daydreaming about using one of its reasonably priced designers. But seeing as how no one is available in Dallas just yet (you can pop your location in HERE and play a little zip-code roulette), we are working off of inspiration boards filled with images from their designs for the time being.

And after much ado about a lot of things, we have decided to start with the master bedroom. Be on the lookout, things are about to get serious.

If clicking our heels together and closing our eyes would ever conceivably work to complete a project, we would have already used it to decorate the house.

  • Wow, gorgeous photos! I’m looking forward to more from this series 🙂

  • Those photos are gorgeous! I always wonder where these people leave all their, for lack of a better word, stuff. Or maybe I’m just more of a hoarder than I thought.. I do know that one day, I hope I’ll have a lovely glass desk, without fingerprints, neat piles of paper (in matching binders!) and proper non-plastic pens. If and when that day comes, I’ll know I’ve made it in life.

  • oh, my goodness. i would love to have a living room that looked like that! i love the mix of natural wood tones, too. makes the stark white + gold feel so much more friendly.
